for a bottom of the table encounter. When Hawick YM took advantage of the blustery wind in the first half it soon became apparent that this contest was not going to be as competitive as originally thought. Dunfermline were on the back foot from the start, camped in their own twenty two for longs spells. Inevitably the pressure told and Hawick YM started to find the gaps and put points on the board. Dunfermline never gave up and were putting together good passages of play but for no reward, thirty minutes into the game after an altercation prop Martin Punter was yellow carded. The second half Dunfermline had the wind with them and Zac Zropf was making good use of this to pin Hawick YM back in their own half but Dunfermline could not take advantage of this and Hawick again started piling on the pressure and more points on the board. Dunfermline’s 11 points came from two penalties scored by Zac and with ten minutes to go Dunfermline’s Adam McCormick got over the line to score a try, which was unconverted.
It was a must win game for both sides but it turned out to be a very hard day for the Dunfermline players not made easy by the fact that Hawick YM had 8 ‘dual registered’ players on the field, which included 3 from The Premiership and 2 from National League 1.
