After the opening sparring session Langholm won a penalty on the Dunfermline 10 metre line which was converted by captain, Niall Cubbin. Further Langholm pressure caused concern for the Dunfermline defence as a series of rucks close in were rewarded when Niall Cubbin crossed for a try close to the posts which he easily converted. Dunfermline finally found their feet and good driving play by the forwards forced play deep into Langholm territory. A penalty for offside at the ruck was awarded to Dunfermline but the kick by Gregor McNeish eased wide of the posts. Langholm cleared their lines and found their way deep into Dunfermline’s 22 metre area. A penalty for offside was quickly taken by scrum half David Irving who caught the visitor’s defence unaware as he darted in, again close to the posts. Cubbin again converted. Again Dunfermline responded with vigour and a break by Scott Swankie from deep took play to the Langholm 5 metre line. Langholm wing forward Lewis Miller was shown a yellow card for persistent infringement and Dunfermline sought to take advantage. The visitors forced a series of scrums close to the Langholm line but aggressive defence and quick engagement kept the home line intact.

Dunfermline started the second half on the front foot but with the home side restored to a full complement they looked to have their work cut out to make any inroads on the score line. Nevertheless perseverance paid off as the forwards secured good ruck ball to release Swankie whose deft chip to the right corner was gathered by Josh Harris for a touch down. The conversion narrowly missed. The game ebbed and flowed between both ends as neither side could consistently dominate the other. Dunfermline however broke the deadlock as the home defence was stretched by free running Dunfermline backs giving Scott Gracie the opportunity to cross under the posts. Gregor McNeish converted. Dunfermline heartened by this continued to press for the next score however the home defence held firm if relieved at the final whistle
