out moving the ball wide a grubber kick wrong footed the Dunfermline defence. The home forwards drove over with the try being accredited to flanker F Drion. Doe converted. Dunfermline responded well with Calum McKenzie held out in the right corner. Perthshire cleared their lines and a surging run form D Clow gained good ground before Doe kicked through and followed up to score. He added the two points. Dunfermline were forced to defend hard against driving play from the home pack who were dominating possession. Dunfermline forced their way into home territory and with the ball driven on by Giles Boland it was quickly recycled for Murray Callan to cross wide out. The conversion narrowly missed. Dunfermline continue to struggle to impose themselves on the game and their cause was not helped by a misfiring line out failing to secure possession on their own throw. Perthshire completed the first half scoring with a Doe penalty from 35 metres.
Dunfermline immediately won a penalty at the restart but McNeish’s attempt went wide. Perthshire returned to the attack and a scything run from full back A Whitelaw was just held out. Winning the resultant lineout the play switched wide to winger M Rae to cross. Doe converted. Perthshire continued to get the better of the forward exchanges and a break by Whitelaw was finished by scrum half G Bloice. Doe added the two points. Dunfermline struggled to maintain any continuity and a breakdown in midfield conceded a penalty which Doe gratefully accepted. A rare Dunfermline attack from the restart saw the ball recycled well in the loose before Giles Boland broke through and crossed the line. McNeish added the two points. As Dunfermline tried to narrow the gap further, slack play prevented any progress. The final word went to the home side as a poor Dunfermline clearance was fielded by Whitelaw who broke the despairing tackles to cross in the left corner. Doe added the conversion to complete the scoring.
