A series of line outs and forward drives being unrewarded for the home side. Dunfermline weathered the storm and worked their way back into Morgan territory winning a penalty on 30 metres converted by Gregor McNeish. A break by Giles Boland from the restart was held up just short. Morgan responded with Graeme Kiddie kicking deep and the Dunfermline forwards conceded a penalty in front of the posts giving Kiddie an easy three points. Morgan then mounted a series of attacks which Dunfermline found difficult to deal with ending in a try from centre Rickie Imrie. Converted by Kiddie. The Morgan stand off kept his side going forward by kicking for position and with Dunfermline conceding a succession of penalties in the loose began to control proceedings. This was emphasised with a line out close in followed by a drive which must be credited to the Morgan pack as the scorer was buried under a sea of bodies. The conversion missed.
Dunfermline looked as if they may get back on track after the break as Graham Hall intercepted in his own half and out ran the Morgan defence to score wide on the right. McNeish’s conversion missed. The visitors were further heartened when McNeish slotted a penalty. The Morgan pack however continued to boss proceedings and Kiddie accepted a further penalty opportunity from in front of the posts. McNeish kept Dunfermline in touch with a long range penalty but with a continuing lack of composure when in possession they struggled to make an impression on the home side. Indeed as play began to become increasingly scrappy it was Morgan who made the best of it with a further two Kiddie penalties.
